Presidents Report  July 2022

We had a fun time at the indoor picnic. The weather was hot but not inside, food was great. My hats off to all the great cooks. The carvings on display were fantastic as usual.

I have been approached by CLR to become a satellite classroom for woodcarving classes. The cost will be the same and class hours would be 9am to 11am on the some day we have our meetings. This will be discussed at our next business meeting. We need to hear some pros and cons on this possibility. Have fun and keep carving!

Western Frontier Challenge

westernMayor Denny Neubauer has proclaimed a Western Frontier Challenge this summer as a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the Western drama series Gunsmoke. Through the summer we will be creating and sharing our carvings of frontier western characters – real, fictional, caricatures, whimsical.

Sheriff Tony DeVita will monitor our activities; and add color to all stories with his version of what really happened.

During this summer we will share patterns, articles, and ideas. Wood stock and rough stock will be made available.

So whether you wish to try your hand at Marshal Matt Dillon or Miss Kitty, sharping up your carving knife for a gay old time. Remember the next town over, or over the rise, there was the Duke and Hoppy and many other characters. The mountain men and native Indians, your options are nearly unlimited.

Secretary report for June 2022

Due to the picnic no regular monthly business meeting of Blackhawk Woodcarvers.
