Presidents Report
January 2020
Happy New Year to all! I hope you
had a blessed Christmas. We certainly had an interesting and eventful year.
Our meeting location at the
“Ken-Rock” building became a major problem last winter and finding a new
location jumped to the top of our club priorities. We appear to have found a
great new location and have completed our move.
The Christmas party at our new
location, Peterson Meadows, was delightful! Bob Matthews organized a buffet
brunch in the dining room just across the hall from our normal carving room.
Beckie and Denny Neubauer provided hand-crafted ornaments and baskets at
each dining table and all attendees were able to take one home. Most members
brought some of their beautiful carvings to display in our normal carving
room. A nice crowd of 41 attendees consisted of 23 members and almost that
many spouses. Both the dining room and the carving display room were very
attractive and the red tablecloths were festive. No formal Christmas Party
committee was involved. The party quickly evolved and became established
during our November business meeting. Many contributed and it all came
together to provide an enjoyable party for all!
Our Christmas party precluded our
normal monthly meeting. Our next business meeting will be at the normal time
on the 15th of January. We will be identifying issues we wish to
address in the near term to help finish our streamlining of the club
organization. One of these items is a proposed revision of the club bylaws.
We will be proposing a complete rewrite of the bylaws by consolidating them
down to the essential items. This will be presented at the January meeting
and is planned to be addressed for possible resolution at the February
meeting. We will also review the current state of the club and consideration
of future direction, plans, and events.
I hope everyone looks forward to an
enjoyable year of carving and fellowship!
Happy New Year! Happy 2020!
