The Blackhawk Woodcarver
Friends,
Occasionally, meetings can have interesting implications. At our recent
October meeting a motion was made, seconded, discussed and passed that we
have the Christmas Breakfast catered (rather than be a pot-luck as was
planned and being worked on).
During the discussion of the motion a member asked “if we could use some of
the Club's excess funds to help others, such as public school art classes.”
Later in the meeting a motion was made, seconded, discussed and passed that
“The Executive Committee (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer)
do a study on how much the Club needs in funding each year, with the idea
that we may in future expend Club funds in a manner to further wood art.”
The interesting implications of this meeting, to me, is the fun the
Executive Committee will have with this task.

There were neither additions nor corrections.
John Skaggs reported on the status of the treasury, stating that no monies
were received and he did pay several bills.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
The Christmas Breakfast will be held at Stockholm Inn on December 7th.
The time is 8:30am to 11am.
Any item not present on the buffet table can be ordered and paid for
separately by anyone who wants that item.
NEW BUSINESS
The next business meeting will be held on December 14th
instead of the 3rd

protocol requires.
John Skaggs volunteered to check with Ken-Rock to see if the room is
available on December 21st and 28th.
The Nominating Committee met together several times to discuss and identify
a list of new officers for 2017.
The list they provided is as follows:
President, Bob Matthews
Vice-President, Jerome Mais
Secretary, Steve Terrill
Treasurer, John Skaggs
A motion was entered to accept the list as the presented for all officers of
the Club for the year 2017.
That motion carried.
A vote was taken to approve Bob Matthews as President, Jerome Mais as
Vice-President, Steve Terrill
as Secretary and John Skaggs as Treasurer for the year 2017.
The vote was nearly unanimous.
A thank you was given to all present officers for the effort they put in
during 2015 and 2016.

Don't forget the Door Prize drawing on First Wednesdays. Bring something
you don't need or want anymore, but know someone would be thrilled to win at
the drawing.
I booked Mike Eickman from Sand Bluff Bird Observatory
(SBBO) to give us a presentation on January 25. He will be at Ken Rock

for Power Point. I will talk to the school to see if they want to
attend. Also he will invite us to participate at their Birdfest Event
in the Spring.
