(p) The Blackhawk Woodcarver
Friends,
At the September business meeting Denny Neubauer presented the work the
Annual Show Planning Committee is doing. The Committee feels there are some
things to be learned from the August 2015 Show. The Committee believes the
club has several options for future Annual Shows. Denny asked club members
to give the committee suggestions, in writing, for future shows. (Committee
members are: Denny Neubauer, Martha Fitch, Carol Behning, Bunny Nordheim,
Elaine Terrell, Larry Clark, Bob Matthews, Dona Eisner and me). Please, if
you have any kind of idea or suggestion, give it to one of the persons
above.

Woodcarvers Meeting of September 2015
The meeting was called to order by President Gary Curl at 9:03 am.
A special thanks needs to be given to Richard Prutz who came in early to set
up the tables for the meeting.
Membership chairman Chuck Drewes noted that 1 new person was attending the
meeting; all members were asked to welcome Mike Rutter.
Secretary Martha Fitch read the minutes of the August meeting.
One correction was noted, and now reads ‘…the Newsletter will be
issued the 2nd
Wednesday of the month, which is one week before the Meeting on the 3rd
Wednesday.’
Treasurer John Skaggs gave his report.
Dona Wisner gave the Petty Cash report.
OLD BUSINESS
Elaine Terrell reported on results of the August Show.
Per her records there was a net loss of $142.39.
A big thank you needs to go out to the Vendors who paid $200.00.
There was less interest in the show than in previous years, and we
need to discuss what to do going forward.
Arne Larsen attended the soap carving activity on August 30th.
There was a need for a sign stating “Children only” and we need to have a
sign for Blackhawk Woodcarver’s at this kind of event.
NEW BUSINESS
Denny Neubauer gave the report from the Show Committee.
He asked all members of the committee to stand and say their name.
He asked that all members show appreciation for the work the
committee has done. There was
applause. The committee reports
that the Club now has 3 options: cancel the Show for next year; change
nothing and hold the same Show next year; or change how the Show is done
next year. The Committee will
meet again to explore options and then offer a recommendation.
If any Club member has a comment or suggestion, please write it down
and give it to a Committee member.
Please remember that any show will require at least 7000 square feet
of space.
A general
discussion of this topic included a statement that it would be good to look
at other options; other shows are also having problems, it could be the
current economy or a change in the current society.
We have to keep in mind the reason we have the Show and the purposes
for the Club’s existence.
MISCELANIOUS
Don Stansfield brought in free wood.
A question was asked of the general membership of any classes planned for
the near future. Only scheduled
class is at CLR.
The Meeting
adjourned at 9:29am.
SHOW AND TELL
BREAK
Demo: Carrie Lay talked about
painting. She will help anyone
who brings in a project to paint on September 30th.
Please welcome Mike Rutter.
Poor Mike has to work for a living so we might see him only once a month.
He's an ex-marine but he's OK. Gary Lundquist and I vetted him.
Chuck Drewes
Deadline for the news for the next newsletter is November 4th.

Special vote on Carving Show
Our president, Gary Curl has asked me to send this e-mail to all our club
members with an e-mail address.
Gary has a called for a special motion and vote on the Show Committee's
recommendation for the 2016 carving show. The motion and vote will be
presented to the members during the open carving session on October 14th.
The reason for not doing it during our regular business meeting, is that
some of the committe members will not available.
