There are two evening meetings per month, which are held at the Ken-Rock Community Center at 3218-11th Street, Rockford, IL.
The first meeting is on the first Tuesday and is an open carving meeting from 6:30 to 9:00 PM. Join the gang and bring your friends
The second meeting is on the third Tuesday, June 21th and is the business meeting, starting at 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
Every Wednesday is open carving from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Come and join the gang, bring a friend! Enjoy a taco.

All our meetings are aimed at enjoying one another passion for woodcarving. Always there is a lot of carving information traded back and forth, and of course the life interest stories, "three for a dollar" are worth the gas mileage and time.
May meeting notes

The Blackhawk Woodcarvers Monthly Business Meeting was called to order by Secretary, Roger Benedict. Old minutes were read and approved.
Treasure's' report by Dolores Cascio, via telephone, reported the check book balance. There was no old business.
For new business Our show banner sponsor, Pete Avramopuplos owner of Potato Shak, was voted in as an honoree member. Gary Meyer made the motion and Bob Hallstrom second it.
Roger Benedict presented the show status: we have two judges confirmed, Don Stansfield has registrations coming in, and Gary Meyer presented the floor plan layout with wide 9-foot aisles. Gary suggested that members take a hard look at the layout for suggestions. Tony DeVita will collect from members their carvings for the raffle. The selling cost of the turtles was voted on and will be $15.00 each. There was no presentation. The turtle-carving project continued in place of the regular presentation.
Ray Olson---Basswood bust of Civil war general that was sealed with Min Wax.
John Wacker---First completed carving, a relief of a country church in a meadow.
Bob Hallstrom---Two (nearly done) Native American statues from a weeklong class he attended.
Tom Backer---Two Santas, snowman and a forest man while watching TV with his Wife. All were painted.
Don Stansfield---A painted mountain man that was sealed with Danish oil.
Roger Benedict---A stylized vase from mahogany.
Marshall Field---A stylized carving of windblown tree limbs

CLUB CARVING PROJECT
Tuesday
night was another night of carving a turtle. Everyone is into the image of a
turtle, and all of us except for a few outstanding thinkers have created
something beyond a turtle. Without giving away too much in advance of the show,
would you believe a women's hat (check the web site) instead of a shell, and how
about a Santa turtle? Who said there is limited creativity with carvers? We
keep this up, perhaps, we need another carving project when this is done.
It continues to be good betting money that no two will look alike---great! So for the next meeting, continue to bring your turtle and carving tools and be with the fun.
WEB SITE PHOTOS
Gordon Moscinski has taken several pictures of the show & tell carvings during the last business meeting, and has placed them in the web site. Check it out, it is good looking site..
